Ledbury continued their winning ways at Ross Road on Sunday by defeating their north county rivals Luctonians.

LEDBURY U14S 24PTS, LUCTONIANS U14S 12PTS

Playing the first half up the slope on the main pitch, Ledbury took early control from their own kick off and excerted immediate pressure on the visitor's defence, forcing a knock on on the 22. Dom Matthews at scrum half fed the tight side and George Webster was able to weave his magic to score his first of two for 5-0.

A good high restart saw good possession gained again by Ledbury as Harry Williams collected the ball. A good carry back to the half way line allowed three uninterrupted phases to go Ledbury's way, as they took up camp in their opponents half. Inspite of good tackling by the visitors, they made too many mistakes, many of which created penalty chances for Ledbury. The result of one of these, a missed kick to touch, came back to Ledbury by way of a knock on and scrum, which was solid throughout the game, and resulted in Charlie Smith picking up from the back and getting over for a just reward. Converted by Dan Allam for 12-0 at the half way stage.

A stern talking to by the Lucs coach saw the visitors go up a gear for the early part of the second half, and after a few missed tackles they had made good ground to get to the host's 5 metre line.

A spilt ball got the clearance kick it deserved only to fall into the hands of the Lucs full back who rushed the line at speed for a reply and 12-7.

Not to be out done, Ledbury were up for the challenge, and further excellent phases involving Robbie Oxley at flanker, Rob Houlbrooke off his wing and Laurence Edwards at center achieved a high percentage of possession. Once again it was Edwards who showed the visitors a clean pair of heals to get in under the posts for 19-7. A revaille by Lucs allowed them a swansong try to go 19-12, but this was shortly undone by George Webster who pressed the superior performance home to close the game at 24-12.

Next week Hereford at Ross Road, meet at 10.30am.
