Organisers of this year's Newent Onion Fayre say they have overcome the disappointments of the massive downpour in 2005, which wiped out the event.
An excellent programme is being lined up, according to spokesman Charlotte Jones.
She said: "The fayre is certainly going on this year.
"Although the downpour did ruin last year's event, we have moved on from the disappointment to put on an excellent fayre - bookings are already being taken for stalls.
"The entertainment bill is almost filled and we will soon be able to give a name for the person who will open the fayre."
The event, which attracts thousands of visitors, will be on September 9.
