Newent Town Council's reserves at the end of 2006 will be slightly lower than at the close of the last financial year. But the figure will still be in the region of £127,000. Of that, £53,000 has been earmarked for specific projects, including the cemetery extension.

A total of 20,000 new tourist brochures are to be funded this season by Newent Town Council, at a cost of around £1,300.

Easter fayre week at Sheppard House day centre in Newent runs from Monday to Friday, April 3-7. Opening times each day will be 10.30pam to noon and 2pm to 3pm. Attractions will include stalls, crafts, refreshments and hot cross buns.
