Ross Town 1
Cricklade Town 4
ROSS lost ground at the bottom of Division 1 West of the GLS Hellenic League on Saturday. While they were being thumped 4-1 at home by Cricklade, nearest rivals Purton who are third from bottom, moved five points clear with a win.
For the first hour, the game at Ross was a non-event with both sides failing to come to terms with the difficult conditions caused by the wind and bobbly pitch. The only noteworthy effort during this spell was an Andy Sherlock shot that tested the visitors' keeper.
The game came to life in the last half-hour with five goals, unfortunately for Ross four were at the wrong end. The first, however, went to the home side, Sherlock rounding his marker, beating the keeper and squaring the ball for Simon Gwilliam to bury.
But their euphoria was short-lived as Cricklade were back on terms straight from the kick-off.
Cricklade then struck three goals inside the final eight minutes to snatch the points.
