Ledbury Town played league leaders Market Drayton in the first round of the League Cup on Saturday.
MARKET DRAYTON 3, LEDBURY TOWN 1
The game started with Drayton pushing forward but Ledbury held firm until the 25th minute when they conceded a sloppy goal.
After this Ledbury showed some determination and new signing Stuart Cook hit the post.
In the second-half, Drayton put pressure on the Ledbury defence with several corners and it was from a corner that Drayton scored again with a header that flashed past Jamie Hales.
Lee Hooper had the best chance to score from a Neil Gardiner cross but headed over from close range.
Then a mistake by Hales, who had made several outstanding saves, gifted Drayton their third. Ledbury never gave up and in the 90th minute, Mark Brookes rose to head home from a corner to make it 3-1.
Man-of-the-match, with an outstanding performance, was Nick Stockley.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Ledbury Town are at home to Wolverhampton Casuals. Kick-off 2.45pm.
- Town Reserves failed in their bid to reach the final of the HFA Charity Bowl going down 7-1 at Ewyas Harold.
Dan Herbert scored for Ledbury.
