BROCKHAMPTON Primary School has appointed a Bromyard-born woman as its first female headteacher.
Lindsey Taylor, who takes over after Easter, will be the school's fifth head in 60 years.
Miss Taylor, whose family ran the Rose and Lion pub in Bromyard for many years, went to school in the town before going to college in London.
She began her teaching career in London and has taught in various schools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, most recently as deputy head at Hampton Dene School in Hereford.
"I'm thrilled to have been chosen as the next headteacher and I'm looking forward to working in partnership with the school and the community. It's an exciting prospect to be leading the school forward," she said.
Miss Taylor replaces Jim Preston, who has been at the school for eight years and has been made head of Hunderton Junior School, Hereford.
He said he was looking forward to the new challenge of working in a larger school.
