WORK starts at the end of this month on a family garden and playground in Bromyard.

The Hope Family Centre was awarded £50,000 for the garden in the National Lottery People's Millions in November, after appearing on television and winning the public vote.

The money will be used to create a lawned area and flower beds and a play area with a wooden house, climbing frame and swings. There will also be a roundabout for children with special needs, funded by Tesco.

The centre, which provides a range of services for Bromyard families and runs a playgroup, will be making another short film for television about the creation of the garden.

"The vote has made people really feel a part of what we do. It's been the talk of the community," said centre manager Sheenagh Davis.

She said the garden at the Hope's new premises in Hereford Road would be an asset to the centre and would hopefully be finished by April.
