Ledbury RFC U10s returned to winning ways in a tough encounter against local rivals Malvern.

LEDBURY U10s v MALVERN U10s

The teams were evenly matched in the forwards, but the quality of the ball won by Ledbury allowed the backs to show their true potential.

Jack Forrester, Jack Dean, Rhys Jones, Dan Risby and Charlie Fox worked tirelessly in the rucks and mauls and, through excellent distribution from scrum-half Ollie Warrilow, the backs were able to combine to score some great tries.

Joe Fowke scored the first after good forward pressure, with Henry Lee drawing his man before releasing a perfect pass for Fowke to run in from 20 yards. The second try came from a scrum, with quick ball being fired down the line, ending with George Burke making the final pass to Rory Gunning who slid in at the corner.

Malvern won their fair share of ball and put pressure on a solid Ledbury defence, pulling the score back to 10-5 at half-time with a good forward driving maul.

In the second-half, a repeat move from the scrum saw Rory Gunning tackled just short of the line, but good support from Joe Fowke enabled him to pick the ball up from the breakdown and dive over for his second try.

Joe Fowke scored his third soon after, once again resulting from good forward pressure in the ruck. The ball was moved quickly down the line and having picked a superb angle, Fowke split the defence to touch down.

Near the end, Adam Turner found himself in space on the halfway line and used his pace to good effect to round the tiring defence and score Ledbury's fifth try.

This was an excellent team performance from a strong Ledbury squad, and is just the boost that the team needs as it heads in to a tough set of fixtures.

The Ledbury U9 team also won against Malvern, with Lewis Williams running in all five tries in a 25-5 victory.
