CONTROVERSIAL global oil intrigue and 'big wall' mountaineering are the subject matters for a new book launched by former soldier Bronco Lane on October 21.
The book, Project Alpha, is to be launched at the Shirehall, Hereford where Bronco will give a presentation on his mountaineering experiences entitled 'Pushing the Limits -Everest and Beyond'.
Bronco, a seasoned youth charity fundraiser, will donate the proceeds of the launch to Herefordshire-based sports charity Ready Steady Win.
Project Alpha takes the reader on a fast-moving journey set in the UK, USA and southern Greenland in which an oil expert asks a retired Royal Marine and climber to suggest ways of obtaining data to check for oil reserves.
Kevin Roach recruits three other climbers to make the first British attempt on Ketil, a ferocious perpendicular granite face in southern Greenland - but they are all unaware he is also surveying for oil.
A rival oil company gets wind of the project and send in a spy posing as a journalist.
The Project Alpha launch evening, which will include elements of Bronco's successful ascent of Everest, will illustrate the commitment, leadership and teamwork in a humorous, conversational manner.
