HEREFORD United Director of Football may be in the market to bring in another striker following a freak injury blow to summer signing David Brown.

The former Telford United player cracked his collarbone following a training collision and will be out for four to six weeks, according to Turner.

He will now miss the early weeks of the Nationwide Conference campaign and Turner is looking to reinforce his options up front.

He said: "We would still hope to get Steve Guinan fit before the start of the season, while Rob Purdie has done well up front in the friendlies.. We still need another striker so the situation has not massively changed."

Brown suffered his injury following what Turner described as an "innocuous" collision with team-mate Richard Teesdale.

Turner said: "He actually trained on but we eventually decided as a precaution to take him for an X-ray which revealed the crack, and he will be out for four to six weeks.

"It is a big blow at this stage. He had worked hard to get his fitness up, had blended in well with the other lads and had shaped up well against Wolves."

Even if his absence is only for four weeks Brown is likely to miss at least two Conference games -- the trip to Tamworth on the opening day (August 9) and the home clash with Forest Green Rovers three days later.

The Bulls, meanwhile, hope to have another new face on show when West Bromwich Albion visit Edgar Street on Monday.

Midfielder Peter Wilding is expected to train with the Bulls on Monday and hopefully will feature in the Albion game that evening.

The 34-year-old was released by Shrewsbury Town at the end of last season, having been voted their Player of the Year as they were relegated from the Nationwide League.

However, his former club Telford United and Tamworth are also believed to be interested, as are Welsh outfits Newtown, Welshpool and Cwmbran Town.
