HEREFORDSHIRE Council has kept faith with a plan that stops free transport to church schools.
Cabinet confirmed the new policy after its original decision was sent back by the children's services scrutiny committee.
The committee wanted clarification of concessions for low-income families in a scheme that has parents helping cover the cost of journeys.
Under the plan, pupils currently having free transport can keep it, unless they change schools.
From September next year, the council will offer a subsidised scheme with the parents of new pupils paying a contribution - probably around £100 a term with a reduced rate for families on low incomes.
Parents would be expected to pay for a maximum of two children per term for pupils attending the same school.
