SHELTERING in the lee of the Black Mountains, the beautiful Golden Valley of gentle, rolling countryside on the Welsh border promises much for visitor and tourist. It stretches from Pontrilas to Hay-on-Wye, and the small farming communities, remote villages, soft landscape and slower pace of life allow the visitor to drift back in time to an almost forgotten rural Old England.
It is a haven of peace and tranquility where you will receive a very warm welcome, and is the perfect place for a truly relaxing break; a 'get away from it all' corner where countryside merges with history and the views are almost unbelievable.
Whether you are seeking an invigorating hike, a gentle ramble across the hills, or a quiet drive, it is the place to be. Accommodation is plentiful, with an assortment of well-appointed and comfortable bed-and-breakfast establishments ready to meet the needs of visitor and sightseer.
Founded in 1993, the Golden Valley and Black Mountain Bed and Breakfast Group was formed to
provide a joint marketing initiative with the aim of 'doing together what is too expensive to do
along'.
They meet regularly to discuss business plans and ways of improving their services. Recently they were awarded European grants to further enhance their facilities and improve and support
marketing objectives.
Guests enjoy the home comforts of the farmhouses, old rectories, vicarages and country cottages,
many of architectural and historical interest, that are dotted about.
A brochure is available on request, containing full details of all accommodation and a detailed map of the area. Contact Rose Lloyd Telephone fax: (+44) (0)1981 570 440.
