Ledbury Ladies were crowned champions of Division One South of the West Midlands Women's League on Sunday, following a determined and professional display of controlled football.

DARLASTON 0, LEDBURY LADIES 4

Darlaston did not give the match to Ledbury, but fought all the way and Ledbury's defence had to work as hard as the rest of the team to gain their deserved victory.

Young Hayley Presley showed why the Ladies have a reputation for scoring when she beat the defence with an unstoppable shot into the far corner of the net from the edge of the 18 yard box.

For long periods of the rest of the first half it was end to end until Eve Greenhouse broke free down the left wing and lobbed the keeper from all of 35 yards. The Ladies now settled down and Darlaston were under control.

The second half began much as the first and after several near misses and a number of corners the Ladies went 3-0 up when Margo scored her 40th league goal of the season.

Margo then made it four when she latched onto a fine through ball and chipped the keeper (in two seasons Margo has now scored 100 goals for the Ladies).

Ledbury, now in complete control, finished the game in party mood knowing this game would give them the league title.

The referee gave Player of the match to Denise Markham.

Ledbury Ladies will be hoping to put icing on the cake when they play Kidderminster Harriers in the re-arranged County Cup final at Bromyard Town's ground on Tuesday (May 2), kick-off 7.30pm.

A coach will be leaving Ledbury Town's ground at 6pm.
