HEREFORDSHIRE County Cricket Club will have Australian all-rounder Ross Lupton in their side for Tuesday's NatWest Trophy first round tie against Sussex Board at Colwall.

Lupton, a hard-hitting batsman and seam bowler, is again playing for Abergave-nny this season.

Last year Herefordshire made an unavailing attempt to get him in their NatWest Trophy side.

Herefordshire cricket and selection sub-committee chairman Bryan Smith said: "There were one or two things to tie up but Lupton will now be playing for us on Tuesday."

Ismail Dawood, the former Worcestershire and Glam-organ wicket-keeper, will also make his debut for Herefordshire but the side will not be finalised until later this week.

Last year the county reached the third round of the competition where they landed a plum home tie with Yorkshire at Kington.

And, if they can reach the same stage this time around, a similarly mouth-watering encounter is on the cards with Durham at Kington.

However, the county will first have to overcome Sussex Board and then Minor Counties Championship rivals Berkshire in the second round.

Admission to Tuesday's match is £5 and £2.50 for concessions and the start will be 11am.

Last Sunday's friendly with Glamorgan 2nd at Colwall was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Smith said "Our big problem at the moment is that, because of the weather, players have not been able to play any competitive cricket."

l Club league cricket starts in the county this weekend with Flint & Cook Marches League Division 3 matches and a programme for clubs competing in the Worcester-shire County League.
