HERFORDSHIRE county netball squad belied their English Counties League status to finish as the highest-placed Division 6 side in an inter-county tournament in Kent.
In relentless wind and rain, they overturned two higher-graded counties, Avon, of Division 5, by 10-8 and Division 4 outfit Berkshire 12-10.
There was also a 10-7 victory against fellow Division 6 side North Bucks and draw with Oxfordshire, of Division 5.
The county's weekend was completed by defeats against Lancashire (8-7), East Dorset (13-9), Humberside (13-5), South Staffordshire (18-9), number one seeds Bedfordshire (20-3), East Essex (14-3), Tyne and Wear (11-10), Staffordshire (13-8) and East Hampshire (10-6).
The results meant Herefordshire finished 34th out of 48, above five Division 5 teams, two from Division 4 and one from Division 3.
