PIP Jones continued her quest to retain the Ladies Championship when she partnered two winners at the Radnor and West Hereford point-to-point meeting at Leominster, scoring on Dawns Cognac and Sister Kit, writes Graham Saveker.

Dawns Cognac was made odds-on favourite to dispose of her four rivals in the Ladies' Open and, despite not travelling well on the heavy ground, her jumping sealed the race in a seven-length win.

The double was completed for owner David Brace and Jones when Sister Kit took the final division of the Maiden race. Luck was on their side as The Ugly Gunner held every chance at the final fence before unshipping his partner, Ed Gratton, leaving Sister Kit well clear of the only other finisher, Spirit Prince.

Owner Roger Phillips has enjoyed success with his top race mare Grimley Gale and he revealed one to follow in her footsteps in the first division of the Maiden race when Miss Gale won well in the hands of Richard Burton.
