HINTON are hopeful of finishing runner-up behind champions Leominster in Division 1 of the Hereford Times Hereford-shire League after a 1-0 victory at Ledbury Town Reserves.
Only sixth-placed Colwall Rangers can catch Hinton, due to a quartet of games in hand, but will need at least four wins out of their last five games to pull it off.
However, their previous two results, two midweek wins over Woofferton Reserves and Pencombe, shows they are in good form.
Division 2 is still wide open, although three wins in a week has taken Painters top by five points, ahead of Kington Colts, who recorded two victories themselves.
Holme Lacy dropped to third but they and Colts each have two games in hand over Painters.
Tupsley Colts secured second place in Division 3 with a win and a draw against Miners and Bromyard Reserves respectively.
Bulmers are best placed to claim third as they have two games to play, but Shobdon currently occupy that position after completing their fixtures.
