IT was the end of an era for Westfields Football Club when they played Dudley Town at Rotherwas on Saturday.

The match brought the curtain down on 26 years of Westfields soccer at the ground, sold for industrial development to new owners.

And it was also the last time for long-serving tea ladies Margaret Hornsby and Mary Nicholls who decided it was a fitting occasion for their retirement as both live in the Rotherwas area.

"Margaret and Mary have given 20 years service to our club and have never let us down, turning out in all weathers for both Saturday and midweek matches," said chief executive Andy Morris.

The Hereford club have applied for planning permission for a new ground at Moor House Field, Widemarsh Common.
