JANET McMorran stormed to her sixth British title and also won the women's doubles at the National Wheelchair Tennis Cham-pionships in Sheffield.

Bromyard-based McMorran triumphed in all of her three group games and then recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the final over Kimberly Dell to take the women's crown.

In the round robin group stages she beat Dell 6-2, 6-2, Kay Forshaw 6-2, 6-1, and whitewashed Christine Blackmore 6-0, 6-0.

She then teamed up with Eastbourne player Dell to take the doubles title with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Blackmore and Forshaw in the final.

McMorran, the UK number one women, is seventh in the World rankings and a favourite to travel to Sydney for October's Paralympic Games.

Twenty-year-old Matthew Faucher, from Hereford, was also in action in Sheffield but bowed out in the first round of the men's open division singles with a 6-4, 6-0 defeat to Andy McErlean.

He then teamed up with Leicester player Shane Everitt-Sharpe and took their first round doubles tie with Richard Latkowski and Tim Phillips to three sets before going down 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
