RESTORATION FUND - Efforts are being made via St Mary's Restoration Society to raise the sum of £100,000 needed to repair and restore the parish church of Hay-on-Wye. Coffee mornings, whist drives and a forthcoming flower festival are some of the events planned. Tomorrow at 7.30pm, a concert by the Bryncoch Choir will be held in St Mary's. This is a return visit by popular request and it is hoped it will be well supported. A collection will be made during the performance.

DIAL-A-RIDE - After the successful recent trip to the Hereford Cider Museum, the next one on May 15 is a shopping trip to Leominster. One or two places are left. The following Monday, May 22, the outing is to the Small Breed Farm, near Kington. A visit at this time of year is always exciting with so many new arrivals. Members wishing to join the excursions should contact Rosemary at the office.

PENHOW CASTLE - The outing to Penhow Castle, arranged by Hay Study Group, is now open to anyone wishing to take part. It is on Thursday, June 29, and the coach leaves Clyro at 9am and Hay car park at 9.15am. There will be a coffee stop at Tintern Railway Station, before going to Chepstow where there will be time to visit the castle, museum, glass works or a walk by the river. After lunch, the coach will depart for Penhow Castle, between Chepstow and Newport. The cost is £10 to include coach, coffee, Penhow entrance and tip. Tickets can be obtained from Val on 01497 821321 or Thelma on 01497 821120.
