KIDDERMINSTER Harriers, second in the Premier Division of the West Midlands Women's League, proved too strong in the area that mattered in the County Cup final at Bromyard.
KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 3, Ledbury TOWN LADIES 0
Despite having long periods of control Ledbury Ladies, who will join the Harriers next season, could not find the net.
As early as the 11th minute Polly Bounds of Ledbury came close to scoring, her shot just going wide but the Harriers replied with a cross from the left for their number nine to open the scoring from close range giving Anna Price in goal no chance.
The rest of the half Ledbury pinned the Harriers in their own half and except for breakaway attacks Ledbury were in the driving seat with Polly and Clare forcing saves from the Harrier's keeper. Nina Emery and Hayley Presley were Ledbury's main attacking force down the right side but as happens with minutes to go in the first half Harriers caught the defence flat footed and made it 2-0 at half time.
Ledbury began on the attack in the second half the same as the first. Polly and Clare going close with Margo Lewis hitting the bar but the Harriers were now beginning to show for the first time the confidence of a winning side.
Substitutions on both sides upped the tempo of the game and Eve Greenhouse made some great crosses from the left only for Margo and Nina to shoot wide of the goal.
Ledbury then began to get caught as their defence was thinning trying to get back in to the game, Anna Price was forced to make several good saves and Ali Lakin, Ledbury's sweeper, had to be called into action more and more. With less than ten minutes left the Harriers broke free to blast home their third goal. The Ladies didn't give up attacking right up to the final whistle.
Ledbury Town Ladies would like to thank everyone that has supported them this season and to all who turned up to watch the Final.
