DESPITE the recent heavy rain the pitch was in superb condition and crying out for a running game of rugby.
Ledbury VETS XV 29pts, LUCTONIANS VETS 17pts
Ledbury ignored the advancing years and threw the ball around with gay abandon. The crowd and the players were stunned by the pace of the game and the quality of the handling.
The opportunity to score came early but the final pass went to ground, but undeterred the next phase of play saw the ball passed along the backs for Neil Blandford to score from a martin Pursey inside pass.
A virtual carbon copy saw Steve Greening go over for a quick follow up. With the game opening up full back Keith Watkins raced down the short side of the scrum to receive and return a pass to John Brooke who put Tim Weston in to score under the posts.
The second half saw the turnaround and Lucs forced into action with three quick tries and some aggressive rucking rugby.
But Ledbury were not going to be outdone with Tim Weston scoring again.
To put the final seal on the game in the descending gloom Tim Weston took a quick lineout for Andy Thornewell to fall over the line and score to complete an emphatic victory.
