BISHOP'S will meet Chantry, of Martley, in the final of Luctonians Under-16 Anglo-Welsh Schools Cup next month after both sides won through their respective semi-finals.

The Hereford school overcame visiting Monmouth 22-3, following a tight first half in which the only scores came via one penalty apiece. Centre Michael Jones kicked Bishop's three points.

However, the Bishop's forwards took control in the second period and their hooker, England trialist Jacob Greasley, burst through most of the Monmouth side to score under the posts.

He pushed the city side further ahead with a second try five minutes later before flanker Tom Lambert sealed their win when he crossed the line with 10 minutes remaining. Jones converted two of the three tries. In the other semi-final, Chantry edged through a very tight match at Hereford Cathedral School by 22-13.

The Hereford hosts led 8-5 at half-time, but a try and a penalty straight after the interval put the visitors in the driving seat.

And, despite a Cathedral try from Jake Coates with five minutes to go, Chantry intercepted and went over in the dying seconds to wrap up the game.

The final, which will be at Luctonians Rugby Club on Saturday, March 3, kick-off 4.30pm, will have two pieces of extra significance. Not only is it the first time that the final has been contested by two state schools, but the two respective coaches, Steve Bradley (Bishop's) and Paul Essenhigh (Chantry), both spent five years teaching at their opposing schools.
