Middle Barton 1 Ross Town 1
THANKS to the heroic efforts of the Barton ground staff, Ross were able to play their first Hellenic League Division 1 game after 10 weeks of postponements.
Considering their long lay-off they turned in a creditable performance and were only denied a win by the acrobatics of the home team goalkeeper, Chris Coles.
Ross took the lead after only three minutes.
Sylvester Mananasay received the ball from keeper Andrew Watkins on the edge of his own box and raced past the home defence before unleashing a 30-yard shot which Coles could only help into the the net.
Middle Barton showed more enterprise in the second half but were kept in check by a resolute defence and rarely threatened Watkins in the visitor's goal. But then Paul Elridge gave him no chance and earned his side a fortuitous share of the spoils.
l After a number of years travelling to Cinderford for their home matches, Ross Town are hoping that an imminent inspection by the Hellenic League officials will sanction the upgraded facilities at Ross Sports Centre for use in future league matches. The longer term ambition of building their own facilities in the area is still ongoing.
