Oxfordshire FA 0 Herefordshire FA 0
HEREFORDSHIRE turned in a workmanlike performance to hold the unbeaten, reigning champions to a draw in the East Midlands Youth Under-16 Combination.
Playing into a strong wind during the first half, the visitors were forced to defend for the bulk of the time and were indebted to Tom Llewellyn who brought off three tremendous saves. Herefordshire did manage to create a couple of good openings on the break, with both Matt Aubrey and Danny Amies testing the home keeper.
The visitors enjoyed a larger share of the play in the second half but, despite creating several chances, were unable to break down a competent defence.
The Herefordshire back four of Andy Knight, Lee Preece, Chris Jones and Nick Griffin also performed admirably in front of the reliable Llewellyn to form the backbone of a good team performance.
