Bromyard Town 2 Wolverhampton Casuals 2
A HOTLY disputed injury-time penalty and superb last-minute defending robbed Bromyard of victory in an action-packed Banks's Brewery West Midlands League Premier Division clash.
New-signing Steven Cornes scored an early goal when he picked up a half clearance to rifle the ball home from just inside the box. A point-blank save from a superb Wayne Hoskins turn and volley and a couple of missed opportunities by another debutant, Jason Beck, meant that Bromyard changed ends with only a single goal advantage.
Casuals pressed after the break, but Bromyard extended their lead against the run of play when Beck made amends for his earlier misses with a quick break and a beautifully weighted chip to beat the advancing goalkeeper.
The visitors reduced the deficit when Bromyard keeper Mark Hopkins could only parry a long-range shot into the path of a striker who rammed the ball home.
With time running out home centre-back Mark Dayson was adjudged to be guilty of a push in the box and Casuals equalised from the penalty. Bromyard surged back and, with the last kick of the game, Dayson beat the keeper but his shot was hooked clear by a defender.
