A SPEED gun challenge has been laid down to launch the Hereford Volunteer Centre, South Wye Community Development Team (SWCDT).
The scheme will be officially launched on Thursday, April 19 at the McDonalds drive-through in Belmont Road where people can win prizes for the fastest run, hardest kick and hardest throw.
The charity is also offering a prize for the best logo and catchy name they can adopt.
The project, which has been funded primarily by Sport England, will give young people aged 10 - 19 in South Wye the opportunity to take part in activities within their communities in the next two years.
The SWCDT has also secured other funding from Herefordshire council and the South Wye Partnership Single Regeneration budget.
The grant award will enable them to deliver projects in Hinton, Hunderton, Newton Farm, Putson and the Redhill estates.
Will Lindesay, development worker at SWCDT said: "The project will provide much needed activities for young people south of the river.
"We also want to involve local people, perhaps you are a resident who would be interested in coaching or would like to set up a club in an interest you have."
