METHODIST CHURCH -- The service for the Women's World Day of Prayer, which this year was held at the Methodist Church in Eardisley, raised £60 in the collection. This money will be used for Christian Literature throughout the world. Services this month are at 11am each Sunday and will be conducted by Mr W L Beers (Easter Day -- Holy Communion), Mr D Cave (April 22) and Mr W Searby (April 29).

ST MARY MAGDALENE CHURCH -- The decorating of the church will commence at 10am on Saturday.

MOTHERS' UNION --The Mother's Union Communion Service will take place in Eardisley Church on Monday, April 23.

VILLAGE HALL -- The annual meeting of the Curzon Herrick Hall is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 23, at 7.30pm. Organisations that use the hall are invited to attend this meeting to express their views and make suggestions to help to keep the hall functioning.

YOUNG FARMERS -- Eardisley Young Farmers came second with their 'Love Production' in the finals of the drama competition held in Leominster recently. Rob Jones was judged to be the best actor and Emma Bryan was best 'Under-18' actress. During the year the club raised around £250 for the County Air Ambulance. SCHOOL -- Year six of Eardisley C of E School made a great contribution to the success of the Women's World Day of Prayer Service, held at the Methodist Church. On Comic Relief Day, the children enjoyed 'wear what you like' and also brought coins, which were laid around the school hall, the proceeds from which were all donated to Comic Relief. During March a journey to Wolverhampton included visits to an Islamic Mosque and a Sikh Gurdwara, where the children were able to get an insight into the faiths of other people.

FESTIVAL -- At a recent public meeting in the Curzon Herrick Hall, it was decided that there would be a festival in Eardisley in 2002. Co-ordinators for the event will be Elizabeth Preece and Ev Hatcher. The chairman is Graham Doody, treasurer Norah Nicholas, advertising John Pollock, pig roast David Powell and John Morris, scarecrow feature Dilys Cartwright, black and white stall Doris Charlton and Gladys Owens, demonstrators and street entertainment Ann Wood, craft work Avril Killick and Josephine Burgoyne, jams and chutneys Dot Doody and Doris Weale, plants Peter Williams and Brian Limbrey, books Eileen Spencer and Jenny Davies. There will be a meeting in September or October for further discussion regarding the festival.

OVER 60s -- 'British Housewife in Foreign Countries' will be the subject of a talk to be given by Dilys Cartwright at the next meeting on Thursday, April 26.

PARENTS AND TODDLERS -- This group has been meeting each Monday morning during term time in Eardisley School. It has had generous support from the Hereford Society for Aiding the Industrious, Whitney Garage and Stores and Forest Garden Fencing, who donated a shed in which to store toys and equipment. TENNIS CLUB -- Adult club nights are on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6.30pm. Social evenings will be held on the first Wednesday of the month, commencing on May 2. Team section nights for ladies will be on Tuesday, April 24, and Tuesday, May 1, and the men's will be on Monday, April 23. On Sunday, May 6m there will be free taster sessions, open to everyone from 10am until 3.30pm.

SHOW 200 CLUB -- Recent winners were Mrs E Burgoyne, Mrs R Bright, Mr E Cardwell, Mr M Preece, Mr M Powles and Mrs J Jenkins.
