A 70-YEAR-OLD woman is the latest victim in a spate of thefts targeted at the elderly in the city.

This was the sixth incident of a pensioner being either assaulted or robbed in the city in the past few months.

A purse was snatched from her hand as she waited at a bus stop in Waterfield Road near Oban Way, Belmont, at 11.10am on Saturday, July 7.

Her purse was black and contained £50 cash, credit and bankers cards.

She describes the thief as a white male in his mid to late 20's and of a weather-beaten, scruffy appearance. The man, who had a Hereford accent, is five feet six inches to five feet seven inches tall, had short brown hair, a sallow complexion and a pointed nose or chin.

He wore blue jeans, a light grey sweatshirt and a black or navy anorak style coat.

Witnesses to the incident and anyone who can help identify the man are asked to contact PC Dave Boote at Hereford Police Station on 01432 276422 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
