THE post office at the Oval in Hereford is due to resume service a month after it was badly damaged in a fire.
The counter will reopen on Friday following extensive refurbishment - but work is ongoing at the retail side and a temporary shop has been set up opposite.
The post office and newsagents suffered extensive smoke damage when a fire broke out in a yard at the back in the early hours of Friday, June 15.
"Forbuoys and their contractors have pulled out all the stops to fully refurbish the post office area for this busy branch," said spokeswoman Linda Roberts.
She added: "Access to the branch will be at the rear entrance. We apologise for any inconvenience, but this is the only way to ensure Post Office services are resumed at the earliest opportunity."
