ONCE again Hereford swimmers travelled to Nuneaton for the final round of the Nuneaton Junior Swimming League.

They faced some tough opposition from the leading clubs, particularly Stourbridge, Nuneaton and Coventry.

There were some good individual performances, notably Amy Ballantyne (10) 1st 50 back, Alex MacDougal (12) 2nd 50 back, Marcus Ashcroft (10) 3rd 50 breast, Joshua Haines (12) 3rd 50 breast, Charlotte Tully (11) 3rd 50 fly and 50 free, Charlie Loughman (11) 3rd 50 free.

Some of the youngest swimmers enjoyed success in the relay events: nine-year-old girls freestyle relay secured a first (Jessica Rogers, Rebecca Phillips, Camilla Roberts and Ellen Lawrence).

This was equalled by another first-class performance for the 10-year-old girls medley relay team (Amy Ballantyne, Clare Porter, Charlotte Abson and Harriet Major).

Remaining results: Charlotte Abson (10) 6th 50 free, Oliver Dines (10) 5th 50 free and 50 back, Virginia Barnett (12) 6th 50 back, Charlotte Tully (11 swimming as 12) 5th 50 fly, Lee O'Neill (12) 4th 50 fly and 50 free, Amy Ballantyne (11) 5th 50 back, David Wright (11) 4th 50 back, Eloise McHarg (11 swimming as 12) 6th 50 breast and 6th as 11 years 50 breast, Sam Jones (11) 6th 50 fly and 4th 50 breast, Stephanie Mills (12) 5th 50 free, Charlotte Abson (10) 5th 25 fly, Marcus Ashcroft (10) 4th 25 fly.

l Following promotion to the Nuneaton League last September, the final results mean that the Hereford club will remain in this league next season.
