WELLINGTON Nomads crashed by three-wicket to Woolhope to suffer their first Hereford Times Hereford and District League Division 1 defeat of the season.

Chasing Wellington's 170-9 in a match reduced by rain to 35 overs a side, visiting Woolhope reached their target with less than two overs remaining.

Charlie Weaver (41) and George Webb (34) set Woolhope on their way, putting on 70 for the first wicket.

However, the visitors lost three wickets for just eight runs before Stewart Williams resurrected the innings, striking 61 not out, to sweep his side to an impressive win. Adam Chalkley was Wellington's most successful bowler, taking 2-26.

Earlier, William Leak starred for Woolhope, claiming four victims for 20 runs, and was backed up by Martin Pullen (2-35) and Webb (2-19).

Wayne Williams top-scored with 42, Phil Chalkley collected 36, Chris Fry, 25, and H Chalkley, 24, but it was not enough to keep Wellington's unbeaten record intact.

Ewyas Harold beat Bishops Frome by eight-wickets to record their first league win of the season.

Replying to Bishops Frome's 94-8, Phil Brookes (34 not out), S Yapp (31) and Robin Michael (23) steered Harold to their target after 24 overs, despite S Glover grabbing 2-28.

Previously, T Barrett hit 32 and M Quatermain, 22, but Frome were kept in check by impressive bowling stints from Les Dallow (3-22), K Melling (2-19) and J Rolph (2-20).
