Hereford United Director of Football Graham Turner is urging his side to finish the season on a high.

United round off their Nationwide Conference programme at home to rock-bottom Sutton United tomorrow (3.00) on the back of a dreadful run that has seen them go eight games without a win.

Having had strong title hopes at one stage, United can now finish no better than eighth.

And Turner said: "We have to be careful that the last month doesn't totally influence our judgement of the season.

"It has been a very disappointing finish but overall it has been a quite reasonable season.

"We had some very good performances early season and an excellent cup run, and forced ourselves into contention in the league in third place, but it has all gone wrong in the last month."

United at least have a great opportunity to finish in fine style against a Sutton side who are already sentenced to relegation.

The Bulls drew 1-1 at Sutton on the opening day of the season.

"It would be nice to finish on a high," said Turner. "We have had a poor run at home and we certainly don't want to lose another one.

"We need to put one or two things right -- we were very disappointing last week against Welling."

Steve Piearce's injury-ravaged season could end with him being handed a starting place up front, providing he came successfully through a reserve outing last night.

However, winger Paul Parry (ankle) and defender Paul Sturgess (knee) are both likely to miss the match through injury.

Turner plans to announce his retained list for next season on Monday.
