GRAHAM Turner has admitted that Hereford United's shock FA Umbro Trophy exit may prevent him making any more new signings this season.
Cash-strapped United were hoping to make money on a good Trophy run to go with the £200,000 gained from their FA Cup progress, when they lost in a third round replay to Premiership side Leicester City.
But they lost 3-1 at Ryman League Premier Division side Billericay Town on Saturday, and United's Director of Football said: "What it means now is that the finance from the FA Cup run has to be used for the day-to-day running of the club.
"Had we had a good run in the Trophy we could perhaps have looked forward to strengthening and increasing the size of the squad. This has set us back enormously."
Turner labelled Saturday's performance as "shocking" and added: "We prepared as well as we could. We had to make one or two changes because of injuries but that can't be used as an excuse. We were second best."
