Hereford United Director of Football Graham Turner is confident his side can get to the FA Umbro Trophy final at Villa Park.

United reached the semi-finals for the first time in 30 years with a 1-0 victory over Burton Albion at Edgar Street on Saturday, in front of the Sky TV cameras.

They now go into the semi-final draw later today with Nationwide Conference rivals Chester City and Forest Green Rovers, as well as Ryman League giant-killers Canvey Island, with every hope of getting to the final on May 13.

Turner said: "It is difficult to pick out who we would rather face.

"We have got to respect what Canvey Island have done this season -- they have knocked out Stevenage and Telford -- while Forest Green have beaten some decent sides including Rushden and Diamonds. Chester will also prove tough opponents.

"But there is an air of confidence that we can get to Villa Park. It has kept the season going which is just what we wanted."

Turner felt the win over Burton, courtesy of Rob Elmes' early goal, was justified even though the visitors missed a penalty and were denied strong appeals for another one.

"I don't think there's any doubt about that, although we had the right call from their penalty appeal in the second half. The one they got was never a penalty in a million years."

Defender Paul Sturgess was controversially sent off late on but will serve a one-match ban, which will take in the league game at Southport on March 27 - four days before the first leg of the semi-final.

United are quickly back in action when they travel to Stevenage Borough in the Conference tonight (7.45).

Turner is likely to stick to the same starting line-up as Saturday, although he hasn't ruled out bringing in the likes of Paul Parry and Kerry Giddings to "freshen up" the side.

Stevenage have lost only four league games this season and Turner said: "They will be a tough side. They are well up there and we just have to be careful that there is no aftermath of Saturday's game.

"We have a heavy programme until the end of the season -- we have around 15 games in the next eight weeks so we will be playing virtually every midweek."
