A WONDER goal by centre-back Ian Wright gave Hereford their second 1-0 away success in four days on Tuesday, writes RICHARD PRIME.

The goal came on 28 minutes and followed Hereford's second corner of the game when Mark Taylor's flag-kick was half-cleared by the Telford defence.

Taylor returned the ball into the middle where Wright connected with a stunning right-foot volley which screamed past goalkeeper Dean Will-iams on its way into the net.

The Telford keeper did well to get a hand to the shot, but the power was such that he had little chance of preventing the goal.

The goal itself was rather out of keeping with a generally scrappy game which produced little in the way of memorable football.

But considering Telford's fine win over leaders Rushden & Diamonds on Saturday, it was an excellent three points for the Bulls and carried them back into the Conference's top ten.

It was a former Hereford player, ex-YTS Martyn Naylor who made the first impact on the game in the 11th minute.

His long throw from the right bounced through the Hereford defence, over the despairing dive of Andy Quy and into the net. But the referee pointed for a free-kick because no-one had managed to get a touch to the ball before it crossed the line.

After Wright's goal, Telford had their chances to square matters but Scott Huckerby flicked his shot wide, Greg Fee's free-kick cleared the bar by yards, and then Quy got down well to foil a fine run and shot by Gez Murphy.

On the stroke of half-time, Gavin Mahon missed an opportunity for Hereford who had further chances to add to the score in the second period.
