HEREFORD United's next four games will tell whether they have the right credentials to become Nationwide Conference title contenders -- says Director of Football Graham Turner.

The Bulls' trip to fourth-placed Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow (3pm) is the first of a run of four games when they take on all their rivals in the top four.

They entertain second-placed Yeovil Town on Sunday week before an all-ticket trip to leaders Rushden and Diamonds on October 14, with a visit to lowly Kingstonian sandwiched in between next Tuesday.

Turner said: "It is a testing time for us. It is a period that will tell us a bit more about what we are about and test our credentials to be champions.

"We have done well so far but it could have been a lot better. Our home results have let us down.

"In the second half against Leigh in midweek we absolutely battered them but couldn't score."

After three games without a victory, Turner is anxious for his side to return to winning ways and close the seven-point gap that has open-ed up between them and Rushden.

He also hopes they can continue their impressive away form, where they have won four out of five to counter-balance their five draws in six home games.

"I don't know whether we get a little bit more freedom away from home, but we have done well and need to continue that good form."

But Turner acknowledges that tomorrow's game will be tough. "They are going quite well and by all accounts, did well at Rushden the other night. They bombarded them late on but couldn't score an equaliser."

A blow for the Bulls is that top scorer Kerry Giddings went down with a 'flu-type illness during the midweek draw with Leigh RMI and is doubtful.
