CHARITY TOURNAMENT -- A short mat bowls team from Sellack took part in a charity tournament at Hardwicke Community Hall, Gloucester. Youngster Nigel Skyrme skippered the side of four. The others were teenager Gareth Barnfield, new member Wyn Downing and Ivor Skyrme. They played three games in their group against Winstone, Wooton Hall and Listers, but could not score heavily enough to qualify for the following round.

On other mats and group games there were Herefordshire clubs playing in the competition, which Ross Bowls Club won. The Ross Larapers team finished runners-up, Fownhope were fifth and Aston Ingham completed the competition in the top eight.

COUNTY LEVEL -- Sellack Club player, Nigel Skyrme, aged 15, played short mat bowls for Herefordshire, and at county level it was the first time he had been chosen to play singles. In the first game he played at the Laraperz Centre against Worcestershire, he won 14-7, but in the second game he was pipped by one shot, 12-13.

INTERNAL DOUBLES -- The Sellack Club starts its internal doubles league on Sunday at St Weonards Village Hall and a few days later they entertain visitors, Larapers, in the season's first Herefordshire's short mat bowls league game.
