FUNDAY -- Knucklas Funday was a great success and a large number of people from local communities and from further away turned out to enjoy the event. The youngsters' football tournament was well supported with teams from a wide area playing in both the under 14 and under 11 sections. A tug-of-war competition, organised by Emlyn Lloyd, was also much enjoyed by participants and spectators. Other attractions were George and Dorothy Morgan's keyless fairground organ, Punch and Judy, cake stall, face painting, barbecue, dog show, tombola, Chinese auction, mini go-karts and children's races.

Winners in the under 14 section of the tournament were Knucklas FC, consisting of Shaun Price, Steven Morgan, Duncan Powell, Luke Boundford and Adam Olds. Runners-up were Knucklas Rovers.

Winners in the under 11 section were Presteigne Colts, consisting of John Bird, Jake Bowen, Theo Powell, Tom Davies, Rob Taylor, James Selley, Dominic Garman and Tom Creemer. Runners-up were Knighton KOs.

Prizewinners in the grand raffle were: Mr G E Morgan (Newtown), Anne Leighfield, A Fox, Shauna Morgan, Meirion Roderick, Anne Hawkins, Myfanwy Pugh, Megan Brick, Colin Evans and Brian Kendell.

The chairman of the community centre management committee thanks everyone who worked hard to make the funday such a success, and those who supported it on the day.

The next big event organised by the community centre management committee will be the Fireworks Night on Saturday, November 3.

TABLE SALE -- Knucklas Scout Group will hold a table sale in Knighton Community Centre on Saturday, October 6, from 10am to 12 noon. Tables can be booked by contacting George Linaker on 01547 529173.

CUB SCOUTS -- Knucklas Cub Scouts have re-commenced their activities after the summer holidays with a getting to know you session. George Davies, Charlie Martin, Luke Hinton and Ben Miller have come up from Beavers and were invested on September 21. Also on September 21, Knighton Baptist Minister, the Rev. Paul Credle and his wife made a visit. Mr Credle is a United States citizen from New York State on a three-month pastoral exchange with the Rev. Steven Wood.
