MORE than 300 residents in a Herefordshire village have appealed to the Minister for Transport to get traffic calming measures installed at a notorious accident blackspot.
Hereford MP Paul Keetch was due to hand over a petition signed by Peterstow residents to Transport Minister John Spellar yesterday (Wednesday).
They were appealing for police cameras, 30 mph speed restriction zones or even a pelican crossing to improve safety on the busy A49.
"Only a couple of weeks ago another serious accident occurred on the A49 at Peterstow. We do not want or need fatalities to convince the government and its agencies that action is needed," said Mr Keetch.
He also asked the minister to follow up resolutions made at the traffic summit meeting last year when funding was promised to improve the Roman Road in Hereford and for the construction of the Rotherwas Relief Road.
