A WOMEN'S Institute near Leominster has officially launched its 'Domesday Project.'
The book produced by members and friends of Eye WI to mark the group's 50th anniversary provides an historic snapshot of the present day scene in Luston, Eye, Moreton and Ashton.
Houses and families appear in the book in full colour and there are also interesting old photographs and text about the area.
Project spokeswoman Pam Edwards said the group was delighted by the interest shown at a very successful launch at the Cawley Hall which included an exhibition of photographs. Around 150 people called in.
Even people who moved from the area long ago have snapped up copies of the book. The publication costs £10 but would have cost much more but for a £5,000 community grant secured with the help of Voluntary Action in Leominster.
