Hereford United Independent Supporters' Association have called a meeting to help decide on the future of the financially-troubled Nationwide Conference club.

Association chairman Kevin Wargen is urging all fans to attend the discussion in Legends Bar, Edgar Street, on Saturday, November 10 at 11.30 am.

Club chairman Graham Turner and Chelverton Properties director Simon Morgan have both been invited to the open meeting, which will gauge supporters' opinion on the issue of relocating the Bulls' headquarters.

Wargen said: "I am planning to go into that meeting with an open mind but relocation is probably now the best option for the club's survival.

"I am bitterly disappointed at having to say that, but the alternatives are fading fast."

Wargen added: "Chelverton appear to have done some homework and they believe it is the best option available for the football club.

"This meeting is crucial because time is quickly running out, and we all have to move in the same direction."

Hereford United director George Hyde has never disguised the fact that he would like the club to stay at Edgar Street.

However, he now firmly believes that relocation is the only available option and hopes that there will be a groundswell of opinion to support that case.

He said: "If we have any ambitions and wish to get back into the Football League and stay there, it is increasingly evident that we will not be able to do so unless we move our location elsewhere, but within easy and practical reach of the city boundaries."

He said that given the background of agreements and commitments which had to be honoured by May 2003, it should be recognised that, after all other options had been considered and failed, support should be given to the case for relocation, provided it was financially viable for the club.

The terms of a legal agreement signed by the previous board of directors meant that a debt of over £1million had to be repaid to Chelverton in 2003 and the club also had to conform to the terms of a CVA.

The present board, together with help from sponsors and supporters, had just managed to keep the club alive financially.

But despite efforts to find benefactors, it was apparent that there was not the level of money needed to move forward in the community in the present circumstances.
