HEREFORD conceded three second-half goals to bow out of the EHA Vintage Cup at the first hurdle.

The Southampton-based former cup winners tested the Hereford defence to its limits in the opening period of this first round match, but they found Percy Steele and goalkeeper Colin Harwood in outstanding form.

Hereford's midfield and attack were at their best in the early exchanges of the second half. And, from their first short corner, midfielder Alastair Ross blasted home an unstoppable shot from the left-hand edge of the circle.

Trojans were quick to respond, however, scoring twice in 10 minutes, before John Isaacs applied the coup de grace.
