Wantage Town 2 Pegasus Juniors 4

PEGASUS snatched victory in the closing stages of an action-packed Cherry Red Records League Premier Division clash.

The Herefordshire club scored three times in the last six minutes to cap a determined performance.

Pegasus took the lead in the eighth minute with a first-time volley from Andy Clarke, only for Wantage to draw level soon afterwards.

Wantage went ahead on 65 minutes after Andrew Watkins had parried a shot, but the hosts then wasted a golden opportunity to secure the points.

Relieved at the escape, the unmarked Leigh Harris headed in an 84th-minute equaliser for Pegasus and Martin Powell then collected a Chris Aspey through ball to put the visitors ahead.

After Wantage had a player red-carded for violent conduct, Harris completed the scoring with a fierce drive in the final minute.

Previously, Pegasus returned to winning ways with an impressive midweek league victory.

Pegasus opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Harris who drove the ball past the goalkeeper.

The home side doubled their score from the penalty spot shortly after half-time following a foul on Neal Hotchkiss.

Paul Mallender fired in the resulting penalty but the Gloucestershire outfit responded and, after a period of pressure, Paul Adams scored from an acute angle.

Harris completed the scoring when he converted a cross from Jon Hill and he almost completed a hat-trick in the last minute.
