A HEREFORDSHIRE war veteran and his wife have swapped their concrete home of 32 years for a smart new brick bungalow.
John Roberts, 82 and wife Winnie, 86, spent more than half their married life at their old home near Leominster.
It was one of 170 buildings, described as 'defective concrete homes', to have been replaced as part of a £10 million Marches Housing Association programme.
John and Winnie, who have been married for 62 years, are now enjoying a new two-bedroom bungalow, built as part of a development of six new homes under the programme.
Marches managing director, David Hinchliffe, said: "Almost all of the older, defective concrete properties have been replaced by new, modern homes, greatly improving the quality of our tenants' lives."
