The new exhibition at Parkfields Gallery, Ross-on-Wye opened this week entitled 'People and Places'.

Scenes from European travels are the predominant focus in artist Laurence Dingley's work - view his colourful oils and be transported to Venice, Morocco, Corsica and further afield.

Oxfordshire artist Judith Yarrow likes to paint mountains and hills she has known since she used to holiday in Snowdonia when she was young. Knowing the peaks, ridges, rocks and flowers of the landscape, she observes how the light and the changing year affects the same mountains and hills in different ways.

Two of the ceramicists within the exhibition focus on people within their work. Chris Bramble's handcrafted ceramics and sculptures bring together his interest in European sculptural tradition and the love of African craftsmanship, shape and form. Sculpted faces and torsos emerge from his wheel thrown vessel shapes.

Amanda Popham returns with her handbuilt earthenware pieces - creating delightful characters that sit "lost in a good book" or stand and gaze "upon a hill".

Intricate patterns found in Eastern art are one of many themes used by ceramicist Jennifer Colquitt in her colourful wall plaques and jewellery, while jeweller Becky Crow delights with her silver figure brooches and earrings.

Sensuous bronze torsos by Dorothy Brooks complete the exhibition, which runs until July 3.
