VILLAGE LOTTERY -- Based on the Lotto 'bonus ball' drawn each Saturday night, a new fundraising idea started in Bishopstone in April to raise funds for St Lawrence church. For a £1 stake the lucky winner receives £25. Mrs W Fisk was the winner on May 25 and Roger Thrupp took the prize on June 1.

JUBILEE WALK -- At 6pm on Saturday, June 1 on a warm sunny evening 30 adults, four children and two push chairs left the centre of Bishopstone on a Jubilee walk organised by John Macklin. The keen walkers forged ahead as the walk left the road and proceeded along a bridle path to circumnavigate Bishopstone Hill. After a while a small group left the main party to take a short route back to Bishopstone village leaving 21 adults and one child to continue the walk. Union flags were evident as was the red, blue and white clothes of some walkers as the party reached Mansel Gamage and started the return journey through The Garnons with kind permission of Sir John Cotterell. The walkers nursing tired aching legs but all smiling and in good spirits arrived safely home at 8.20pm.
