PARISH MEETING -- Abbeydore and Bacton Group Parish Council held the annual parish meeting for the parishes of Abbeydore and Bacton on May 27. Apologies were received from Mrs Hollom, Cllr A G Morgan Mrs M Jenkins, Mrs M Peacock, Mr H Pullan and WPC F Farrington. There were no members of the public present and the clerk said he had received no complaints or comments so the council can presume to have carried out its business to everyone's satisfaction. The clerk explained that in May 2003 Abbeydore and Bacton would be part of Golden Valley South Ward he also explained that a new ' Light Touch' audit will be commencing from April 2001 and that currently an audit was proceeding under the old regime. The annual general meeting of the Group Parish Council followed when the officers gave their reports of the years proceedings which were adopted. The footpaths and parish lengthsman schemes were considered to have been a success. There is a healthy balance in the accounts but this is somewhat distorted by the injection of money into the two schemes. The officers and delegates to local and county organisations were re-elected. In addition the auditor recommended by the Audit Commission was appointed. A normal parish council meeting followed matters arising from the minutes were discussed these included the new notice board for Kerry's Gate, result of the public inquiry with reference to AD 32 and caravan site. Two planning application were discussed and recommended for approval. A number of invoices were approved for payment including insurance, subscriptions and the parish freighter service. It was also agreed to pay for the new fencing and jubilee mugs. Parish matters discussed parking during the day outside the village hall and the current state of the roads. A vote of thanks to the Parish Council and its officers was given by Cllr Morgan.
