FOOTBALL fever continues with a popular sporting event in memory of a Herefordshire woman on July 14 at Widemarsh Common.

This year's six-a-side football tournament in aid of the Sue Parry Appeal will kick off at 10am.

Would-be Beckhams will be out in force for the children's under nines and under tens and the seniors tournament will take place during the afternoon.

Sue's mum, Sandra Parry explains the history of the appeal: "The Sue Parry Appeal was set up a few years ago after the loss of my wonderful daughter Susan, to cancer at the age of 24.

"St Michael's Hospice played a very special part in her care, and because of the wonderful care Susan received; friends and family got together and decided to raise money for this superb charity that serves our community.

"Over the past two years we have arranged a variety of events, which has enabled us to raise a fantastic sum of £15,306, this could never have been possible without the kind generosity of the people of Herefordshire.

"The day would not be possible without the terrific support from the team members but especially to Robin Green and Ralph Farmer who organise the fixtures with help from the referees who give up their day to support us."

Anyone who is interested in entering a team of men, women or a mixed group should contact Lynn Gummer of the fund raising department at St Michael's Hospice on 01432 851000.
