Eardisley Little Theatre will be performing its award-winning version of The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht in Eardisley on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, 6.

The play, performed in the beautiful setting of Castle House, in front of the historic castle mound, follows the group's three previous outdoor productions, which includes the highly successful Blue Remembered Hills and last year's riotous Canterbury Tales.

The production has already won several awards including the Herefordshire round of the All England Theatre Festival.

The play, set in the Caucasian state of Georgia, is a classic of European theatre and centres on the dispute over the royal child, deserted by the Governor's family during the overthrow of the regime and rescued and brought up a kitchen maid. When the Governor's wife returns to claim the child she deserted, the drunken judge Azdak, who administers his own unique brand of justice, considers the rights of the two 'mothers' through the ancient test of the chalk circle. What will he decide? Find out in Eardisley on July 5 and 6.

Tickets can be obtained from the General Stores, Eardisley and Eardisley Post Office or by calling 01544 328425.
